Another Stater Bros. on tap

Stater Bros. will open its ninth store in Riverside, the company has announced.

The facility will be located in a former Ralphs Supermarket at 315 E. Alessandro Blvd. in Mission Grove Plaza, according to a statement released Monday.

The building, which covers 46,000 square feet, will undergo an extensive remodeling once Stater Bros. takes control of it, probably by the end of this year. It’s expected to reopen next spring as a state-of-the-art State Bros. supermarket, with a full-service meat department, a produce department with more than 800 items along with a bakery, delicatessen and floral department.

The new store will serve residents in the Mission Grove, Canyon Crest, East Hills and Woodcrest communities, according to the statement.

Stater Bros. is in expansion mode. In August it opened a store in Simi Valley, its first in Ventura County, and it recently announced plans to build stores in Menifee, Norco, Rancho Cucamonga and Tustin Ranch.

Based in San Bernardino, Stater Bros. operates 169 stores and employs approximately 18,000 people. It’s the largest privately owned supermarket chain in Southern California and the largest private employer in the Inland Empire, according to the statement.
