Fast-food protests reach Inland Empire

A nationwide protest by fast-food workers came to the Inland Empire this week.

The protestors were calling attention to the low wages that are paid in the fast-food industry and are hoping to get the federal minimum wage raised to $15 an hour, according to multiple published reports.

Demonstrations were held Thursday outside McDonald’s restaurants in Corona and Riverside and at the site in San Bernardino where the first McDonald’s restaurant was located.

Strikes were called in about 100 cities and demonstrations in support of those strikes were held in about 100 more locations. It was the third such action at fast-food restaurants throughout the country this year, according to the reports.
