Grant will help low-income residents with tech skills

San Bernardino County has received a $484,830 grant that it will use to bring digital technology to low-end communities.

The California Advanced Services Fund is presenting the grant to the county Housing Authority, according to the statement.

The grant is part of the fund’s Broadband Adoption Digital Learning Centers project and will help provide digital literacy and computer training for up to 2,760 residents in 26 locations in the county.

Its curriculum will include basic digital literacy and computer hardware, office productivity software; internet safety, employment access, job search techniques and resume writing.

Participants will receive at least eight hours of training and, upon completion, a refurbished laptop computer, according to the statement.
