Moreno Valley OK’s expanded outdoor restaurant seating

Moreno Valley has approved expanded outdoor seating at restaurants.

The emergency resolution passed by the city council last week allows all restaurants to expand their outdoor seating, provided they comply with state regulations that allow for limited indoor dining with social distancing, according to a statement on the city’s website.

Dining areas may be expanded onto private property as long as it can be done safely.

“The state’s necessary restrictions on indoor dining make it difficult for most restaurants to do enough business to stay afloat, especially those without an outdoor option,” said Mayor Yxsitian Gutierrez in the statement. “Allowing for outdoor dining where it can safely be added keeps restaurants in compliance with state rules while helping them recover and, hopefully, thrive again.”

Moreno Valley’s website, www.moval.org, has a link for permit applications for expanding outdoor dining. Permit fees are waived,  and permits will remain in effect until the state eases restrictions on indoor dining, according to the statement.
