On The Move

U.S. Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel visited the National Training Center at Ft. Irwin Friday.

Hagel met with active-duty and Army reserve personnel, then observed “decisive action” training for an estimated 4,700 soldiers in the 4th Infantry Division, according to a Ft. Irwin release.

Hagel addressed the troops after the demonstration.

The 4th Infantry Division is based at Ft. Carson, Colo. However, some personnel from that division are training at Ft. Irwin for one month, part of 16 combat training center rotations the Army is scheduled to hold during fiscal year 2015.

Nine of those rotations will be held at Ft. Irwin. Those training sessions are designed to prepare soldiers for any mission, including combat operations, humanitarian assistance and disaster relief, according to the release.

Ft. Irwin is a major U.S. military training center in the Mojave Desert in northern San Bernardino County.
