Timothy Paine, a  professor of entomology at UC Riverside, has received an Excellence in College and University Teaching award from the Association of Public and Land-Grant Universities, the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the American Association of State Colleges and Universities.

Paine, one of nine award winners in the food and agricultural sciences category, was recognized for his creative teaching methods and outstanding service to his students, according to a report in UCR Today.

During his 28 years at UC Riverside, Paine has taught lecture classes, served as chair of the entomology department and been divisional dean of the College of Natural and Agricultural Sciences, among other duties.

Paine, who will receive $2,000 in connection with the award,  is a Fellow of the Entomological Society of America and the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
