Registration open for Route 66 gathering

Vehicle registration is open for the 2018 Route 66 Crusin’ Reunion, scheduled to be held Sept. 21-22.

Participation is limited to the first 2,000 approved vehicles, and all must have been built no later than 1988, according a statement released by the event’s creator and sponsor, the Greater Ontario Convention & Visitors Bureau.

Since the even began in 2013, all participating cars and trucks had to have been built no later than 1975. The cutoff date was changed this year so that “Muscle Cars” may participate, said Michael Krouse, the bureau’s president and chief executive officer, in the statement.

Registration is $60 per vehicle. Registrants will receive a gift bag and be able to participate in the event’s award program.

The Cruisin’ Reunion, held the third weekend of September, is a gathering of cars and hot rods along an estimated 22 city blocks in downtown Ontario. More than 200,000 people participated last year, according to a statement.

To register a vehicle visit www.Route66CruisinReunion.com or call (800) 867-8366.
