Riverside County allows golf course to reopen

Riverside County golfers are free to tee it up and start playing again, providing they abide by certain conditions related to controlling the potentially deadly COVID-19.

County health officials on Monday issued a revised ruling of an April 2 public health order which allows golf courses to reopen this week, according to a statement.

However, to remain on the golf course, players must limit themselves to groups no larger that four, keep at least six feet of distance between each other and wear face coverings.

Caddies and dining in clubhouses are prohibited, and tournaments and other large gatherings won’t be allowed until June 20 at the earliest.

The ruling applies to golf courses in unincorporated areas and cities that haven’t passed a emergency ordinance mandating their closure.

One city that passed such an ordinance, Palm Springs, issued a statement Tuesday that it’s golf courses will remain closed. The closure ordinance, passed March 24, orders all local golf courses to shut down until early June.
