Riverside to host 5K Walk

Riverside will host its annual 5K Walk to End Homelessness next month.

The event, which seeks to raise $35,000, is scheduled to be held April 18 at Fairmont Park , 2601 Fairmont Blvd. in downtown Riverside, according to a statement.

Several hundred adults, students and children participate in the 5K walk every year. 

“The Walk to End Homelessness offers community members a way to come together to raise funds to help our neighbors without homes,” Mayor Rusty Bailey said in the statement. “I encourage Riverside residents who want to help people trying to regain self-sufficiency to join us at this year’s walk.”

Registration begins at 7 a.m., with the walk scheduled to start one hour later at the bandshell, which is in the southeast corner of the park. From there, the walk circles Lake Evans and finishes near the bandshell.

Cost is $30 for adults, $20 for students with a studentt ID and $5 for anyone under 18.  Families  may be sponsored for $5,000, individuals for $2,500 or youth for $1,000.
