Tire company leases warehouse-distribution space

A major tire company has leased a warehouse-distribution facility in Chino.

Yokohama Tire Co. will use the 658,000-square-foot building as its distribution headquarters in the western United States, according to a statement released Wednesday.

The new building will replace Yokohama’s 380,000-square-foot facility in Fullerton. Financial terms were not disclosed, and it is not known how many people will work there.

Yokohama officials hinted that the company has major long-term plans for the building at 16388 Fern Ave.

“The move to the new warehouse facility is only the beginning,” said Tom Masaguchi, Yokohama’s chief strategy officer, in the statement. “In addition to expanding our west coast capacity to keep pace with our strong growth, we will be breaking ground for fulfilling new processes for servicing our customers.

“The new facility will be the cornerstone of the future of our U.S, distribution network.”

More hires are expected, but the company did not say how many people they plan to hire or when those hires will happen.
