On The Move

Joseph M. Vargas, longtime executive in the commercial real estate industry, has been named senior managing director for greater Los Angeles by Colliers International.

Vargas, whose territory will include the Inland Empire, will focus in new business, talent acquisition and retention, according to a statement.

Vargas, whose appointment was announced Monday, previously was president of Cushman & Wakefield’s west region and was an executive vice president with Lee & Associates, where he worked to raise that company’s profile in top tier markets.

A two-time Olympian, Vargas won a saliva medal in water polo at the 1984 Los Angeles Games, and he also competed in that sport at UCLA, according to the statement.
