Southern California Water Conference returns to Ontario

Inland water conference scheduled

Marty Ralph, director of the Center for Western Weather and Water Extremes at UC San Diego, will be the keynote speaker at this year’s Southern California Water Conference.

The conference, titled Responding to Water Extremes,” will deal with a future of “weather whiplash,” in which extremely dry conditions will be followed by severe winter storms, according to a statement.

Presented by the Baldy View Chapter of the Building Industry Association of Southern California, this year’s conference is scheduled to be held from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 11 at the Double Tree Hotel in Ontario, 222 N. Vineyard Ave.

The Southern California Water Conference is a forum for agencies, local governments, private industry, and the public to collaborate on issues, specifically how to deliver safe, clean water to residences and businesses.

Sponsors of this year’s event include San Bernardino County, the Inland Empire Utilities Agency, the Eastern Municipal Water District, and the Mojave Water Agency.
