Chris Karrer has retired as Menifee’s police chief after four years with the department.
A 24-year veteran of law enforcement, Karrer lead several specialty units during his career, including traffic, problem-oriented policing, code enforcement, animal services, and crime scene investigation, according to a statement on the city’s website.
Captain Dave Gutierrez has been named acting police chief. Plans regarding a permanent replacement have not been announced.
“We are thankful for Chief Karrer’s contributions to the Menifee community, and wish him all the best in his retirement,” City Manager Armando G. Villa said in the statement. “We are also grateful for Captain Gutierrez’ leadership. He will ensure that the department has the support and resources it needs for its continued success.”
