ONT expects record Thanksgiving travel

Ontario International Airport is predicting an all-time high passenger count for the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday.

Airport officials expect to accommodate 224,809 passengers during the 11-day period that begins Nov. 22 and ends Dec. 2, according to a statement on the airport’s website.

If that forecast is correct, it will top last year’s record Thanksgiving travel count by 5.8 percent. The busiest days are expected to be Nov. 24 (22,465 passengers), Nov. 25 (22,448 passengers) and Dec. 1 (23,818 passengers).

Based on current schedules, airlines are offering more than 280,000 seats on arriving and departing flights at Ontario International during the Thanksgiving travel period, 7.5 percent more than in 2023.

“We’re excited to open our doors to a record number of travelers this Thanksgiving,” said Atif Alkadi, chief executive officer of the Ontario International Airport Authority, in the statement. “It’s a milestone that reflects our growth and the trust our passengers place in us.”
