OIA again named fastest-growing airport

For the second year in a row, a major aviation trade publication has named Ontario International Airport the fastest growing airport in the United States.

Ontario International was again recognized by Global Traveler for its 8.3 percent growth in passenger traffic during the first 10 months of this year, including a nearly 40 percent increase in international travel, according to a statement.

Ontario International accommodated more than 5.1 million passengers in 2018. If the present trend continues, about 5.5 million passengers will pass through the airport this year, the most since 2008, when the final passenger count was 6.2 million.

“Much of the credit for our airport’s success is also due to the consistent support of our community neighbors, who welcome our customers with open arms and enthusiastically support our plans to develop a major aviation hub in the Inland Empire,” said Alan D. Wapner, board president of the Ontario International Airport Authority, in the statement.

“We pride ourselves in offering the facilities, services and amenities that appeal to our customers and, as a result, our airport continues to be an attractive destination for leisure and business travelers in Southern California and an economic driver for the region.”

Global Traveler focuses on business and luxury travelers who fly extensively in the United States and abroad, according to the statement.
