Thomas Pierce, professor emeritus of economics at Cal State San Bernardino, has had a $100,000 scholarship endowed in his name.
The donation, which honors Pierce’s devotion to his students, was made by John Kennedy and his wife Ann Kough, longtime supporters of Cal State San Bernardino, according to a statement on the school’s website.
“The scholarship endowment is a wonderful gift of financial support to deserving economics students for decades to come,” Pierce said in the statement. “That so many economics majors are first-generation college students who face substantial financial challenges as they move toward completion of their bachelor’s degrees makes John and Ann’s generosity all the more meaningful.”
Since the mid-1980s the Kennedy family has helped more than 50 economics majors earn bachelor’s degrees through the endowment established by John’s late father John W. Kennedy, Sr. ’79 ’85, and his wife June.
John W. Kennedy was an alumnus of California State San Bernardino, according to the statement.
