An estimated 10,000 people are expected to participate in Stater Bros.’ 11th annual believe walk, scheduled to be held Sunday in downtown Redlands.
The annual fundraiser, a joint effort between Stater Bros. Charities and Inland Women Fighting Cancer has raised more than $4.6 million for lnland Empire cancer-fighting charities since it began in 2008, said Nancy Negrette, chairwoman and president of Stater Bros. Charities.
This year’s fundraising goal is $500,000.
The 5K [3.2 mile] walk will start at State and Orange streets and end at the Redlands Bowl.
The event will include live music, cheer groups and a “Bark and Believe” station for dogs.
Pre-walk festivities will include a cancer survivors celebration at Ed Hales Park. Registration begins at 6:30 a.m., followed by a pre-walk orientation at 7:45 a.m and the walk at 8 a.m.
Anyone not able to participate in the walk will be able to help by texting 80077. That will secure a $10 donation toward an art kit and art class for a local cancer patient, Negrette said.
