A youth award has been renamed to honor a longtime community leader in Riverside County.

The Riverside County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously Tuesday to the change the Character Counts! Youth Award to the Jamil Dada Character Counts! Youth Award, according to the Clerk of the Board office.

Dada, 56, is an executive with Provident Business Bank . He serves on the county and state workforce investment boards and is on the Moreno Valley Chamber of Commerce board, according to a report published by The Press-Enterprise.

Dada is also board president of the March Air Field Museum and is past president of the Riverside Community College District Foundation.

The award is given out every year by the Council for Youth Development, an extension of the workforce board. It’s presented to young people who show traits of good citizenship, including trustworthiness, respect, responsibility and fairness, according to the report.

This year’s award ceremony is scheduled to be held May 2 at the air museum.
