Apple Valley Mayor Curt Emick has received the first of two COVID-19 vaccinations.
Emick received his shot Jan. 29 at the Choice Medical Group in Apple Valley, according to a statement on the town’s website.
As a pharmacist and healthcare worker, Emick was eligible for the first phase of the state’s vaccination program.
During his visit, Emick filmed a video and discussed the vaccine’s safety and effectiveness with Dr. Rahul Nayyar, chief medical officer and chief operating officer at Choice Medical Group.
Choice Medical Group is vaccinating healthcare workers, and patients 65 and older with the Moderna vaccine as part of the Phase 1A rollout. It will vaccinate first responders as part of the Phase 1B rollout.
