CSUSB receives $4.1 million federal grant

Cal State San Bernardino has received $4.1 million in grants from the U.S. Department of Education.

The funding will help middle and high school students pursue college degrees, according to a statement on the university’s website.

“Receiving this grant is especially exciting for CSUSB and our local community as it allows us to fortify our efforts to build a pipeline to higher education for local students,” said Paz Olivérez, vice president of student affairs. “Educational Talent Search has a long history in the Inland Empire, and we are thrilled their great work with schools throughout our region will continue.”

Cal State San Bernardino’s goal is to help 1,500 students a year during the next five years. Open to grades 6-12 in the San Bernardino City, Colton Joint, and Rialto school districts, according to the statement.
