Palm Springs will hold a special meeting to discuss a future homeless navigation center in the northern part of the city.
The facility, planned for 3589 McCarthy Road, will serve as a temporary shelter before long-term housing can be found, according to a statement on the city’s website.
It will provide a number of services, including hygiene, meals, health and wellness and life skills education. The project is being developed by Palm Springs and Riverside County and will be operate by Martha’s Village and Kitchen, one of the county’s best-known homeless providers.
“The homeless navigation center will be a game changer for Palm Springs when it comes to developing long-term solutions to combatting homelessness on the west end of the Coachella Valley,” City Manager Justin Clifton said in the statement. “This is an important project which will shape the future of our city for generations.”
The meeting is scheduled to be held from 6 p.m to 7:30 p.m. March 3 at the James O. Jessie Desert Highland Unity Center, 480 W. Tramview Road.
