Brian Sylva has been named president of Mt. San Jacinto College’s board of trustees.
Sylva, a Beaumont resident and the sports information director at College of the Desert in Palm Desert has been an MSJC trustee since 2020, according to a statement on the school’s website.
Sylva has served on several boards and community groups, including the Beaumont Unified School District, the Beaumont Chamber of Commerce, the Beaumont-Cherry Valley Rotary, the San Gorgonio Memorial Hospital Healthcare District, and the California Community College Sports Information Association.
Tom Ashley, an MSJC trustee since 2012, has been named clerk of the board.
Sylva and Ashley were appointed to their respective one-year positions on Dec. 14 at the board’s annual reorganization meeting, according to the statement.
