California exports up slightly

California accounted for nine percent of all U.S. exports in November, up from 8.8 percent the previous month and up 8.6 year-over-year, according to data released this week.

The state’s export trade was worth $14.8 billion during the next-to-last month of 2023, up 1.2 percent from November 2022, although the exporting of manufactured goods fell nearly six percent to a value of $8.9 billion during that time, Beacon Economics in Los Angeles reported.

On the positive side, the state’s agricultural exports of raw materials rose by 21.2 percent, to $2.109 billion.

“While overall U.S. exports in November were down year-over-year by 2.7 percent, the value of California’s export trade gained by 1.2 percent,” said Jock O’Connell, Beacon Economics’ international trade advisor.

Beacon’s monthly report is based on data provided by U.S. Census Bureau’s Foreign Trade Division.
