Olson joins Palms Springs’ economic development

Wayne Olson is now Palm Springs’ chief economic development officer.

Olson took over Jan. 2 after stepping down as Palm Desert’s senior development manager for economic development, according to a statement.

While in Palm Desert, led the effort to obtain $90 million in state funding to help Cal State San Bernardino build its Palm Desert campus. He also created and oversaw the city’s $2 million development incentive program and was a liaison with businesses regarding public programs.

Olson also spent eight years as the chief manager of Carnivore, LLC, a real estate consultant company with clients in California and Minnesota, and he was senior project manager for Minneapolis’ community development agency.

“Wayne Olson has a wealth of experience directing community and economic development projects that make cities better,” said Palm Springs City Manager Scott Stiles in the statement. “His extensive expertise will be a tremendous asset to Palm Springs.”
