An Inland medical school has received provisional accreditation from an organization that evaluates medical schools in the United States.
The medical school at the California University of Science and Medicine in Colton received the stamp of approval from the Liaison Committee on Medical Education, which is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
The committee is sponsored by the Association of American Medical Colleges and the American Medical Association. Its granting of provisional accreditation is considered a step to full accreditation.
“This is a recognition of the work of our entire community – students, faculty and administration – to establish a school of medicine that inspires, motivates, and empowers students to become excellent and caring physicians,” said Dr. Paul Lyons, CUSM’s president and dean, in the statement.
CUSM accepts 130 new medical students each year, according to the statement.
Congratulations!
