Riverside audit division back to full staff

The internal audit division of Riverside County’s auditor-controller office has returned to full capacity.

Auditor-Controller Ben J. Benoit recently announced his office has hired 10 new employees, which filled all of the division’s previously open positions, according to a statement on the county’s website.

“I’m proud to announce that the Internal Audit Division is now fully staffed with a dedicated team of certified professionals, including individuals with Certified Public Accountants, Certified Internal Auditor, and Certified Information Systems Auditor credentials,” Benoit said in the statement, which was posted May 2.

“A fully staffed audit team will help reduce the county’s risk exposure, and allow us to provide comprehensive oversight and strategic planning.;”

Two years ago, a grand jury found that the former auditor-controller “failed to fill the positions for a decade to an effective level that would help instill confidence with risk management and independent evaluation of county departments,” the statement reads.

Benoit pledged to fill those positions when he took office last year.
