Inland Empire employers added 2,700 non-agricultural jobs month-over-month in May, a solid increase for the two-county region, according to data released last week.
The unemployment rate in Riverside and San Bernardino counties during the fifth month of the year was 4.3 percent, down from a revised 4.8 percent in April, the state Employment Development Department reported.
Those numbers are not adjusted for seasonal factors that typically affect the jobs market.
California added 43,700 jobs in May, the 49th consecutive month the state job market expanded. The state’s adjusted unemployment rate last month was 5.2 percent.
In the Inland Empire, two categories – government and trade, transportation and utilities – added 1,300 jobs each. Agricultural employment increased by 1,600 jobs.
Manufacturing recorded the largest decline in the Inland region between April and May, losing 400 jobs, the department reported.
