The Pechanga Band of Luiseno Indians has announced plans to expand the tribal-owned and operated Pechanga Resort & Casino.
The proposed $285 million expansion would include construction of a wing that would include 548 hotel rooms along with nearly 70,000 square feet of space to be used for conventions, concerts and sporting events, according to a statement posted on the tribe’s website earlier this week.
Also, a resort-style pool complex will be constructed, along with a 23,000-square-foot stand-alone building that will feature a salon, spa and fitness center.
Tribal officials plan to break ground on the expansion – which is expected to create 560 permanent jobs and 3,000 construction jobs – early next year. Construction is expected to last the two years.
When finished, Pechanga Resort & Casino will have gone from 517 rooms to 1,065 rooms, making it the largest facility of its kind in Southwest Riverside County.
