Virgil Rush, a community enhancement officer with the town of Apple Valley, was recently named that community’s employee of the quarter.
Rush supervises weekend inmate crews that remove trash that has been dumped illegally when code enforcement officials aren’t able to locate the person who committed the violation, according to a statement posted on the Apple Valley website.
An Apple Valley employee for nine years, Rush has helped remove an estimated 1.8 million pounds of trash from the city.
“Virgil’s commitment to excellence has extended to many departments within the town as well as organizations throughout the community,” said Jonathan Wood, senior code enforcement officer, in the statement. “He is an excellent mentor and someone we can all look up to, not only for work-related issues but life skills as well.”
Rush, who was nominated for the award by his co-workers, was recognized at the Oct. 27 Town Council meeting.
