Palm Springs has a new police chief.
Acting Police Chief Bryan Reyes, a 22-year department veteran, has been named permanent chief effective immediately, according to a statement.
Reyes has been acting chief since December, when Chief Al Franz retired.
A Palm Springs resident, Reyes has a master’s degree in public education from Cal State San Bernardino and is a graduate of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Leadership Academy.
Reyes was a member of the department’s SWAT team for 15 years and has held every rank within the department.
