A fire station that serves Temecula is scheduled to re-open Saturday.
Fire Station 73, which is part of the CAL Fire/Riverside County Fire Department, has undergone major upgrades for the past 10 months, according to a statement posted on the city’s website.
Nearly 1,400 square feet of living space has been added, sleeping quarters and restrooms refurbished and the building’s exterior has been painted, re-roofed and given new landscaping. A high-efficiency irrigation system was also installed.
Cost of the renovation was about $1.8 million.
The station, at 27415 Enterprise Circle West, was built in 1988. It accommodates eight firefighters and responds to more than 2,400
calls a year, or roughly 33 percent of all emergency calls logged in the city annually.
“Our firefighters live several days at a time at their stations, and this fire station, in particular, needed updated facilities and living quarters,” Mayor Mike Naggar said in the statement.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony, which is open to the public, is scheduled to be held at 9 a.m. Riverside County Fire Chief John R. Hawkins and members of the Temecula City Council are scheduled to speak.
