Marilyn Monroe is returning to Palm Springs.
The city council voted last week to bring back “Forever Marilyn,” the popular 26-foot-tall sculpture that was displayed downtown from 2012 to 2014, according to a statement on the city’s website.
This time, the statue – which has been in New Jersey for the past two years – will be displayed in the city’s planned downtown park.
P.S. Resorts is negotiating a title sponsorship agreement with the RumChata Foundation that will pay half the cost of returning the statue to Palm Springs, and several people in the local hotel industry are working on a fundraising plan that will raise money to help pay for the transfer, according to the statement.
