Company in RC Lands Military Contract

A Michigan-based company with an operation in Rancho Cucamonga has won a contract from the U.S. Army.

Gentex Corp. will be paid $82.5 million to manufacture the Joint Service Aircrew Mask at its facility at 9859 7th St., according to statement by Rep. Pete Aguilar, D-Redlands.

The mask will provide respiratory service and protection to pilots flying JSF F-35 aircraft.

In a statement posted Monday on his website, Aguilar praised Gentex for being a major contributor not only to the Inland Empire economy but also to national security.

“Their ability to engage our federal economy and to provide the gear to keep our brave service members safe, is a point of pride in our region,” Aguilar, a member of the House Armed Services Committee, said in the statement.

Gentex makes rearview mirrors for the automobile industry, windows for airplanes and fire protection products for firefighters, according to the company’s website.
