San Bernardino International Airport has reached an agreement with UPS to add flights during the holiday season.
The international package delivery company will operate four flights per week from the airport during December, according to a statement posted Tuesday on the airport’s website.
The flights, all 757 aircraft, will fly directly to Worldport, UPS’ primary air hub, which is at Louisville International Airport.
UPS expects to deliver more than 700 million packages worldwide between Thanksgiving and Dec. 24, a 14 percent increase compared with 2015, according to the statement.
San Bernardino International Airport is located on the former Norton Air Force Base, which has been converted to civilian use, in phases, since 1992. It has been certified as a commercial airport by the Federal Aviation Administration and is preparing to one day provide domestic and international passenger flights.
