Stater Bros. has broken ground on a supermarket in Rancho Cucamonga.
The store, at 7200 Day Creek Blvd., is being developed by Lewis Retail Centers in Upland and will be part of Day Creek Marketplace, according to a statement.
Pete Van Helden, president and chief executive officer of Stater Bros. Markets Inc., Richard Lewis, president of Lewis Retail Centers and Rancho Cucamonga City Councilwoman Diane Williams attended a brief groundbreaking ceremony Wednesday.
The store, which is expected to open this fall, will be Stater Bros. third location in Rancho Cucamonga. It will cover about 44,000 square feet and be part of Day Creek Marketplace, a Lewis Retail project, at the northwest corner of Day Creek Boulevard and Base Line Road.
Officials dedicated the future store to Stater Bros.’ late Executive Chairman Jack Brown, who died last November, and his parents.
Stater Bros. is the largest privately owned supermarket chain in Southern California and the largest private employer in the Inland Empire, with 169 stores and approximately 18,000 employees, according to the statement.
