Anil Deolalikar has been named chair of the UC Riverside Global Health Institute’s board of directors.
Deolalikar, who is currently dean of the School of Public Policy, will take over his new duties Aug. 1, according to a statement.
A member of the health institute’s planning committee when the institute was formed nearly 10 years ago, Deolalikar co-founded and co-directed its One Health Center of Expertise, which studies the relationship between human health and the ecosystem.
He is also a professor of economics.
“I will do my best to bring greater awareness of global health to our campus, especially among our students,” Deolalikar, said in the statement.
