JetBlue is returning to Ontario International Airport.
After a 10-year absence, the airline will offer nonstop flights between Ontario International and John F. Kennedy International Airport, the company announced Wednesday.
Those flights, which will cost $99 per seat one way, are scheduled to begin Sept. 5.
JetBlue also announced that it will enhance its west coast operations with new service to Colorado and Montana and upgrades to its flight schedules in Long Beach and Burbank.
Also, for the fourth consecutive year, JetBlue will offer seasonal service to Palm Springs International Airport: four times a week starting in October, then seven days a week beginning in mid-December.
The airlines’ decision to return Ontario International is good news for the airport, which has been experiencing a revival – including fights to and from China that began last month – since the city of Ontario assumed control of the airport in November 2016.
“The question we get most often is ‘when might JetBlue come to Ontario?’ “ said Alan D. Wapner, president of the Ontario International Airport Authority, in the statement. “So we’re thrilled to say that that day has come. JetBlue’s confidence in Ontario International as a gateway airport able to provide first-rate facilities and services is well-placed. We promise we won’t let them down.”
New York-based Jet Blue previously served Ontario International between 2000 and 2008. At the time, it was Jet Blue’s only West Coast destination, according to the statement.
