Aldi to hire more than 20,000 workers

Aldi, the discount supermarket chain that features small, easy-to-navigate stores, will hire more than 20,000 workers nationwide.

The hires, for both stores and warehouse employees, are to accommodate Aldi’s growth and prepare for the upcoming holiday season, according to a statement posted Monday on the company’s website.

Positions include store associate, cashier, stocker, and warehouse associate at the company’s more than 2,100 stores and 25 warehouses. The Batvia, Ill.-based company will host a national hiring week Sept. 20-24, during which stores and warehouses will conduct candidate interviews.

Aldi, which operates multiple stores in the Inland Empire and Southern California, has an average national starting wage for store and warehouse positions of $15 and $19 per hour, respectively. Aldi employees are also eligible for health care and retirement plans, financial wellness and employee assistance programs, and paid time off, according to the statement.
