Aldi, the discount supermarket chain, is opening its first Rialto location.
The store, at the northeast corner of West Foothill Boulevard and Cactus Avenue., is scheduled to hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 8:15 a.m. Thursday, according to a statement.
Also, the first 100 people in line will receive gift cards, and everyone in attendance will be able to sample Aldi-brand foods and enter a sweepstakes to win one year’s worth of Aldi produce.
Regular store hours will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. seven days a week.
Based in Germany, Aldi has more than 10,000 stores in 20 countries, including nearly 1,800 stores in United States. Aldi plans to expand to 2,200 U.S. stores by 2022, an expansion that will create about 25,000 jobs and cost about $3.4 billion.
More than 40 million people shop at Aldi’s U.S. locations every month, according to the statement.
