Amazon announces 150,000 seasonal hires

Amazon will hire 150,000 seasonal workers to help with the holiday shopping season, the company announced Monday.

The jobs, which will include stowing, shipping, packing and shipping, have an average starting pay of $18 per hour and sign-on bonuses up to $3,000, according to a statement on the company’s website.

Some positions could receive an additional $3 per hour depending on shifts and location.

The jobs, many of which could lead full-time positions, will be at 250 fulfillment centers, sorting centers, regional air hubs, and delivery stations that opened in the United States this year.

“We are proud to be offering a huge range of full-time, part-time, and now seasonal jobs with great pay and benefits,” said Alicia Boler Davis, senior vice president of global customer fulfillment, in the statement. “Our seasonal hiring helps us deliver on our promises to customers while also providing flexibility to our full-time employees during busy periods.”

Amazon has 60 fulfillment centers in California, including locations in San Bernardino and Moreno Valley, according to the website.
