Amazon will build a fulfillment center in Beaumont that will create approximately 1,000 full-time jobs, according to a statement released today.
The 640,000-square-foot facility will be the company’s 14th in the Inland Empire, the online retail giant reported.
It will be located near the Interstate 10 and the 60 Freeway. Employees there will pack and ship small items, including books, electronics, school supplies and home goods.
Amazon opened its first California fulfillment center in San Bernardino six years ago. Since then its has opened similar operations in Eastvale, Moreno Valley, Redlands, Rialto and Riverside.
“The Inland Empire has been a great place to do business, [to] serve customers, create jobs, and raise the bar on innovative technologies,” said Mark Stewart, Vice President of Amazon’s North America Operations, in the statement. “We’re excited to now be part of the Beaumont community and grow our team there.”
An opening date was not announced.
