Annual SB walk raises $1.2 million to fight cancer

Stater Bros.’ annual Believe Walk, a virtual event for the second year in a row, raised more than $1.2 million to help people battling cancer.

Held earlier this month, the money raised will help pay for patients’ transportation to and from appointments, advanced screening, and equipment, financial assistance with rent, utilities and groceries, home healthcare for terminal patients, according to a statement released today by Stater Bros. Charities.

Beneficiaries include the Desert Cancer Foundation, Loma Linda University Cancer Center, Redlands Community Hospital, St. Bernardine Medical Center, and the Riverside University Health System Foundation.

“The Believe Walk community stepped up in a big way, and we are eternally grateful for their unwavering support,” said Danielle Oehlman, Stater Bros. Charities director, in the statement. “Cancer patients and their families need our help now more than ever. These funds will help alleviate some of the stress and financial hardship that families face throughout their cancer.
