California sustained the largest month-over-month loss of jobs in September of any state.
The state, which still saw its unemployment rate drop last month, lost 9,800 jobs in September, according to data released Tuesday by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, a division of the U.S. Department of Labor.
That topped Pennsylvania, which lost 9,600 jobs and Virginia, which dropped 7,400 jobs during that time, the report stated.
Regional and state unemployment rates changed slightly between August, September: 31 states saw their unemployment rates drop during that time, while eight states had increases and 11 states and the District of Columbia experienced no change, according to the report.
