The Riverside County Transportation Department has awarded a $64 million contract to a Central California construction company.
Watsonville-based Granite will be in charge of the Jurupa Road grade separation in Jurupa Valley, according to a statement.
That project will include building a grade separation between Jurupa Road and the Union Pacific Railroad and moving all rail spurs. That separation will will improve community safety by lessening traffic, decreasing emergency vehicle response time, and reducing air pollution.
“We are happy to continue our long-established relationships with both the Riverside County Transportation Department and the Union Pacific Railroad,” said Brad Williams, Granite’s, regional vice president, in the statement. “We look forward to enhancing safety and improving the roadway conditions for community members and the driving public.”
Construction is expected to begin this month and take two years to complete, according to the statement.
