China Airlines completed its first year of operation out of Ontario International Airport Monday, an event airport officials marked with a champagne and confetti celebration.
On March 25, 2018, China Airlines began daily roundtrip service between Ontario and Taiwan, the only transpacific service from a Southern California airport other than Los Angeles International, according to a statement.
Ontario International’s only other international flights are to and from Mexico, via Aeromexico and Volaris airlines.
“[China Airlines’] commitment to Ontario is a strong show of confidence in all we are doing to develop a first-rate international gateway with the services travelers demand, not to mention creating an economic driver for the region,” said Alan D. Wapner, president of the Ontario International Airport Authority, in the statement.”
China Airlines flights arrive daily at Ontario International’s Terminal 2 at approximately 3:00 p.m. local time. Return flights to Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport leaving at 11:55 p.m. also local time.
China Airlines has carried approximately 175,000 passengers between Ontario and Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport during the past year, an average of more than 14,000 travelers per month, according to the statement.
