Chino councilman to step down

Chino City Councilman Earl Elrod will retire when his term expires in November.

The  65-year-old Elrod, who has served on the council for 20 years, told the Inland Valley Daily Bulletin this week that it’s time for him to step down, partly for health reasons and also because the council could use “some young blood.”

Before joining the council, Elrod spent three years on the parks commission and nine years on the planning commission.

Councilman Gary George, who was appointed to the council in January 2017, told the publication that he plans to run for Elrod’s third-district seat. George, who will be seeking a four-year term, also lives in the third district.
