Wesley Simmons is Chino’s new chief of police.
Simmons replaces Karen Comstock, who stepped down from the position Thursday, according to a statement on the city’s website.
A 23-year employee of the Chino Police Department, Simmons has been a corporal, detective, sergeant, lieutenant and, since 2014, captain.
He has been in charge of the department’s budget, professional services, criminal investigations unit, and crisis response unit. Simmons was also a founding member of the department’s SWAT team.
“I am excited to work alongside and lead the exceptional people of the Chino Police Department who make it a model for law enforcement,” Simmons said in the statement. “By God’s grace, I will do so in a manner that fosters new levels of excellence in service of this great community.”
