Christiansen named Omnitrans employee of the quarter

Stirling Christiansen has been named Omnitrnans’ outstanding employee for the quarter that ended March 31.

A building maintenance mechanic, Christiansen was recognized for his response to COVID 19, according to a statement on the transit agency’s website.

Once the crisis hit, Omnitrans implemented measures to protect passengers and employees, including a disinfectant protocol for workers.

“The custodians clean every day, but we had to kick it up a notch and start sanitizing door handles, stair rails, and tables, using industry grade disinfectants on top of the usual all-purpose cleaners,” Christiansen said in the statement.

Christiansen, an Omnitrans employee for nearly six years, is an important part of the agency’s success, according to his supervisor.

“Stirling’s work ethic is unparalleled, and he is always willing to go above and beyond for OmniTrans,” Facilities Supervisor John Gensel said in the statement. “He is one of our essential workers.”
