City looks for help with homeless survey

Palm Springs is looking for volunteers to help conduct its part of Riverside County’s annual count of homeless people.

The 2018 Point-In-Time Homeless Count is scheduled to be held Jan. 23, according to a statement.

In Palm Springs, volunteers are needed from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. They will survey as many homeless people in the city they can find, then determine what programs and services will best fit their needs.

Training sessions will be held before the counting begins. The Point-In-Time count is a one-day event that identifies approximately how many homeless people there are in Riverside County and how they can best be helped.

Anyone interested in volunteering may visit  www.RiversideHomelessCounts.com or www.palmspringsca.gov. and click on “Residents.” For more information call (951) 358-3844.
