Len Jessup has been named president of Claremont Graduate University.
Jessup, currently the president of the University of Nevada Las Vegas, will take office July 1, according to a statement.
In an email sent to Claremont Graduate faculty, staff, students and alumni, Don Baker, chair of the search committee, and Tim Kirley, chair of the school’s board of trustees, praised Jessup as a “gifted administrator” and a “practicing scholar.”
While at UNLV, Jessup led a 10-year strategic plan designed to make the university a first-rate research university. He also upgraded its fundraising and started programs that forged better relations between the school and the Las Vegas business community.
Before that, Jessup was dean of the University of Arizona’s Eller College of Management, according to the statement.
